June 20, 2023: The Punjab Cabinet amended entry number 48, schedule 1A, Indian Stamp Act, 1899, entailing 2% stamp duty charges on the granting of Power of Attorney for property transfers outside the family. The objective of this amendment is to prevent misuse and fraud regarding Power of Attorney in Punjab. Consequently, a 2% stamp duty will now apply to the collector's rate on the Power of Attorney outside the family.

March 2023: Ludhiana Municipal Corporation (LMC) issued letters and notices to department heads stating that the top government is the major property tax defaulter. The LMC also notified the police commissioner to clear the remaining dues on property tax. Currently, they are taking strict actions against defaulters in Ludhiana.
